I am currently having what is extremely likely to be another ectopic. This will be my 3rd. The first two resulted in me loosing my entire right tube. I did manage to conceive my DD naturally after these two and now 4yrs on I have another pregnancy which I am sure is ectopic also. My HCG on Monday was 33. Wednesday it was 44. So now I saw my Gynea today who agrees this pregnancy given my history is also ectopic however at this low level they wont give me methotrexate until my HCG is at minimum several hundred. Is this right? I don’t see the point given my history and the fact I know my levels are going up (as my pregnancy tests are getting darker ever day) waiting any longer. I also would love another pregnancy and with one damaged tube left would like to do everything I can to save it. I understand there is a chance I wont have another child but with no tubes there is no chance (without IVF of course) What have other peoples levels been when they had methotrexate? Is my level truly too low?
Hi Olivia
I’m sorry you are going through another ectopic. I am currently going through a pregnancy of unknown location after FET and am waiting to find out if they will advise methotrexate for me. My level is currently just over 900 but I’m sure it was a lot lower, less than 100, when I had methotrexate 7 years ago. I thought it could be used as long as the level was below 3000? Sorry I don’t know for definite.
I hope everything is resolved for you soon.
Take care

You’re a good candidate for the MTX shot since you beta HCG levels are so low… They base it on other things as well like blood loss (free fluid in cavity), pain associated etc. you could probably good what the criteria is and see if you fit.
But if you do fit the criteria get it sooner than later as I mentioned it is more effective in low serum HCG levels
Good luck - I had the shot recently and my numbers were between 200-300.
Hope that helps,
Hi Olivia,
I am so sorry you are going through this
They have decided to ‘expectant manage’ your ectopic pregnancy, which means that because the beta HCG level is so low they are waiting to see if the ectopic pregnancy resolves without them having to give you methotrexate. You have a right to choose so if you don’t want this method of treatment you can tell them you want to be medically managed not expectant managed. Alternatively you may want to see if you can avoid medical treatment.
We are all here for you.
Much live,
Alex

This is an old post (over a year now) but just thought I would update that this pregnancy ended spontaneously. We never saw anything in the uterus and it was put down to a pregnancy of unknown location.
The good news is fast forward to now and I am 22weeks pregnant with our final baby
Hi Olivia
Thank you so much for updating your story and I’m so sorry for your loss.
Your good news makes me elated now and many congratulations to you. Wishing you all the best!
Love
Munira
