So I know they say wait 2 cycles, or 3 months… but is it 2 periods and then you can try after the 2nd period? Or is it the 3rd period? Its confused me.
I just want to try again. I had my first period since my levels reached 0, after having MTX on the 30th of April. As soon as my numbers reached 0 I started to take pre natals again.

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss,
If you have had methotrexate, regardless of how many periods you have, you need to take folic acid supplements for 12 weeks before trying to conceive.
We say 2 proper periods some people mistakenly think the first bleed after treatment is a classed as a period. This generally takes people up to a three month mark, which is why we use this as a general rule.

Hello, I would like to add on to this. I’ve recently had two doses of methotrexate and confused if this now means I have to wait 6 months instead of 3. Or 24 weeks of taking folic acid instead of 12?
Dear MCLS,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss.
Unless instructed otherwise by your medical team for medical reasons, the information is the same regardless of having one or two doses of methotrexate.
Even with two doses, we advise to wait until your blood hCG levels are below 5, and then take folic acid supplements for twelve weeks before trying to conceive.
