Blood Type

Just a quick one ladies. A friend of a friend had recurrent miscarriages and is RH Negative and a friend of hers has 2 sisters 1 is RH Positive and the other 2 are negative. The 2 that are negative have had terrible fertility problems 2 ep’s and the one that isn’t has had five very easy and succesful pregnancies. I am RH Negative and am just going through a miscarriage after 1 ep and two other early miscarriages.

Just wondering how common it is amongst us?

I’m RH positive and aside from my ep, I’ve had no other fertility problems(knock on wood)

Hi Annmarie,

I’m Rhesus Neg too.

I’ve had one stillbirth and one ectopic pregnancy. I don’t know if being RH Neg had anything to do with this.

Love

Just to clarify, there is no known relationship between Rh factor and ectopic pregnancy

There is an increased risk of miscarriage where a woman who is Rh neg isn’t treated with Anti D after delivery or pregnancy loss after 12 weeks

And there is a Greater risk of miscarriage in women who have immune issues such as Rh negative factor.

Hi I am RH negative and i was treated with the anti D factor when they first tought i was misscarying and actually having an EP. I was explained that i would need this shot everytime i got pregnant. Right before and right after delivery to prevent the antibodies from attacking the babies blood.

The use of Anti D Prophylaxis is fairly clearly laid out and for those interested [the RCOG guidence appears here

Hi

I am Rh neg and was given Anti D with EP. I am scheduled for my Anti D on Friday as I am now 28 weeks pregnant.

My Mum is also Rh neg and had a stillbirth before two successful pregnancies back in the 70s.

needed nine pints of blood after first ruptured EP and three pints after second.

I am RH negative, had Anti-D after ectopic in Nov 2012.
