Hi. I was diagnosed with ectopic pregnancy, which was most likely in the left ovary, and underwent conservative treatment. I had severe pain and then mild spotting, after which my B HCG level started dropping. And so the doctor said there is no need for medication. But since then, I have not experienced any bleeding. It has been two days.
Please advise as I’m really concerned why am I not bleeding at all.
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
The first bleed you will experience is a response to falling hormone levels and involves shedding of the uterine lining and is not classed as a period. It is the body’s response to falling hormone levels because you are sadly no longer pregnant and often occurs once hCG levels have fallen below about 100mIU/mL.
The bleeding maybe more painful or less so than usual, heavier or lighter, last for longer or shorter than usual – there really is no set pattern. You should be able to manage the discomfort with over-the-counter pain relief and should not be soaking a pad in less than an hour. If this is not the case, you should seek medical attention.
Sending much love,
Karen x
