Advice appreciated

Hello again,

It’s been a while since i visited this site.

I had my ectopic in December 2016 and had my right tube removed. Since things have been ok but to be totally honest the last time i saw any kind of a doctor was the morning i was discharged and i must admit i have developed a fear of the unknown and have avoided seeing a doctor since. I get pains monthly in my right side, sometimes more severe than others but about two hours these pains started and they are SO BAD. l am probably worrying far too much for no reason but has anyone ever had this?? It’s like a stabbing right where the tube was removed (i have my appendix out also so it can’t be that) ive tried paracetomal but they might aswell of been smarties.

Havent had this happen.

It could be adhesions? Or maybe ovulation? Or maybe a hemorraghic cysts that developed after ovulation. I once had a hemorraghic cysts is pained me for a week. It went did resolve. If you are concerned i would definitely go to doctor. Its better to know so you can do something about if you need to or if its nothing you can put your mind at ease. Best of luck

Hi Lauren-x,

I’m sorry to hear of your worrying time, and I know that in my case I have had various twinges following my ectopics.

The Trust typically advises that it can be normal to feel abdominal pains after treatment for ectopic pregnancy, even long after. The pain you are feeling could be a result of adhesions or scar tissue which forms as part of the recovery process. It could also be ovulation pains as many women feel ovulation pains when they did not before. It might also be as a result of heightened awareness after your ordeal.

To assist, you could keep a pain diary - when you experience the pain and where, its intensity and anything that helps like rest or pain relief, and noting when your period starts. You can take these notes with you to the appointment and the details will help your doctors best manage your symptoms.

However, as you are having concern and these are quite dramatic pains it is always better to get checked out to be on the safe side and as I am not medically qualified to give a definitive opinion.

With good wishes,

Michele
