3 Month post op for EP and Pain

Hi Everyone!

I had an ectopic pregnancy 3 months ago and my right tube ruptured and had to be removed via laparoscopic surgery.

I had very minimal pain post surgery and thought I recovered fine. However, 2 weeks ago during ovulation, I started experiencing really bad pelvic and lower back pain on the left side opposite of my EP side.

I went to my OB and had a urine analysis and it came out clear of any infection. I also had blood work done and that too came out clear. She also do a pelvic exam and looked for discharge and said everything looks normal but still sent me for a vaginal ultrasound which came out normal…there were no acute findings, just a small ovarian cyst that was considered too small for torsion and nothing was noted on the ultrasound as worrisome.

Yesterday, I went to the ER because my pain got worse and its been consistent for 10 days. They did a CT and found no sign of kidney stones or anything else and told me to follow up with my gyno.

I met with my gyno today and she said she thinks it might get better after my cycle and to drink lots of water and take baths and do a heating pad. If after 2 weeks its not resolved then she will refer me to a GI.

Has anyone every experienced this? My pain is a 6 out of 10 and pretty consistent.

Dear Salu2005,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,

Experiencing some pain after an ectopic pregnancy is normal as your body has been through a great deal over the last few months. The pain may be due to adhesions (scar tissue that binds two parts of the body together) which form and take some time to settle. Your body may be preparing to ovulate and many women experience ovulation pain when they did not before their ectopic pregnancy - including myself. You also may have a heightened perception because of the sad loss that you have had to go through.

It is good that you are having follow up from your specialist.

Sending much love,

Karen x
