Vitamin D ok?

Hi, I have been treated with methotrexate and as of today reached hcg = 5, the hospital discharged me. The doctor said that I can start taking folic acid again. I might be paranoid at this stage, but it’s fine to do so even if I am not below 5 yet, right?

Also, shortly after I got treated, I got a serious eye infection (nobody can tell me whether it is related to the ectopic/ methotrexate or not but I find the timing suspicious) and I am treated for that too. My GP suggested that I should take vitamin D but I forgot to ask the doctor about it. Is it ok to take vitamin D whilst still waiting for the methotrexate to metabolise? Sorry might be silly questions, I just feel a bit uncertain at this stage. Thanks

Sear Cee14,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss.
A lot of units class hCG readings under 5 as pre pregnancy levels, so it is fine to take folic acid now and continue for 12 weeks if you wish to try to conceive. It is therefore also fine to take Vitamin D as advised.
Best wishes,
Karen x

Thanks Karen. I bought a product that contains both, 400microgram folic acid and 10microgram VitD (so it’s specifically for pregnancy). Do you have any thoughts on taking this over taking separate products? Thank you

Dear Cee14,
As far as I am aware the combination is ok, but as we cannot provide individualised medical advice, please clarify with a medical professional or pharmacist with any concerns,
Best wishes,
