Some poems which helped me to heal:

A Mothers Prayer

By Jennifer Wasik

I closed my eyes and prayed to God today.

I asked what makes a Mother and I know I heard him say,

A Mother has a baby, this we know is true.

But God can you be a Mother when your baby’s not with you?

“Yes you can!”, he replied with confidence in his voice,

“I give many women babies, when they leave its not their choice.

Some I send for a lifetime and others for a day.

And some I send to feel your womb but there’s no need to stay.”

I don’t understand this God, I want my baby here,

He took a breath and cleared his throat and then I saw a tear.

I wish I could show you what your child is doing today.

If you could see your child smile with the other children and say,

“We go to earth to learn our lessons of love and life and fear,

my mommy loved me oh so much I got to come straight here.

I feel so lucky to have a mom who had so much love for me

I learned my lesson very quick. My mommy set me free.

I miss my mommy oh so much but I visit her everyday.

When she goes to sleep, on her pillow is where I lay.

I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek and whisper in her ear,

Mommy don’t be sad today, I’m your baby and I’m here.”

So you see my dear sweet one, your children are ok.

Your babies are here in my home and this is where they’ll stay.

They’ll wait for you with me until your lesson is through

And on that day that you come Home they’ll be at the gates for you.

So now you see what makes a Mother.

It’s the feeling in your heart

It’s the love you have so much of, right from the start.

Though some on earth may not realise that you are a Mother, until their time is done

They’ll be up here with me one day and know you’re the best one.

An Angel Never Dies

Don’t let them say I wasn’t born,

That something stopped my heart,

I felt each tender squeeze you gave,

I’ve loved you from the start.

Although my body you can’t hold,

It doesn’t mean I’m gone.

This world was worthy, not, of me,

God chose that I move on.

I know the pain that drowns your soul,

What you are forced to face.

You have my word, I’ll fill your arms,

Someday we will embrace.

You’ll hear that it was "meant to be,

God doesn’t make mistakes."

But that won’t soften your worst blow,

Or make your heart not ache.

I’m watching over all you do,

another child you’ll bear.

Believe me when I say to you,

That I am always there.

There will come a time, I promise you,

When you will hold my hand,

Stroke my face and kiss my lips,

And then you’ll understand.

Although I’ve never breathed your air,

Or gazed into your eyes

That doesn’t mean I never “was” ~

An Angel Never Dies…

Remembering

Go ahead and mention my child

The one that died, you know

Don’t worry about hurting me further

The depth of my pain doesn’t show.

Don’t worry about making me cry

I’m already crying inside

Help me to heal by releasing

The tears that I try to hide.

I’m hurt when you just keep silent

Pretending it doesn’t exist

I’d rather you’d mention my child

Knowing that she has been missed.

You asked me how I’m doing.

I say “Pretty good” or “fine”

But healing is something ongoing

I feel it will take a lifetime.

A million times we’ve needed you

A million times we’ve cried

If love alone could have saved you

You never would have died

In life we loved you dearly

In death we love you still

In our hearts you hold a place

No one will ever fill

It broke our hearts to lose you

But you didn’t go alone

A part of us went with you

The day god took you home!

One Sweet Day by-Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men

(I won’t be afraid

I’ll be alright if you help me

I know you’re looking down from heaven

And I won’t let you down

I’ll be everything you taught me

And all that I know is I’ll wait

Patiently to see you in heaven)

Sorry I never told you

All I wanted to say

And now it’s too late to hold you

'Cause you’ve flown away

So far away

Never had I imagined

Living without your smile

Feeling and knowing you’re hearing me

It keeps me alive

And I know you’re shining down on me from heaven

Like so many friends we’ve lost along the way

And I know eventually we’ll be together

One sweet day

And I’ll wait

Patiently to see you in heaven

Darling I never showed you

Assumed you’d always be there

And I, I took your presence for granted

But I always cared

And I miss the love we shared

And I know you’re shining down on me from heaven

Like so many friends we’ve lost along the way

And I know eventually we’ll be together

One sweet day

And all that I know is I’ll wait

Patiently to see you in heaven

Although the sun will never shine the same

I’ll always look to a brighter day

Lord I know when I lay me down to sleep

You will always listen as I pray

And I know you’re shining down on me from heaven

Like so many friends we’ve lost along the way

And I know eventually we’ll be together

One sweet day

And I know you’re shining down on me from heaven

(I’ll see you eventually)

Like so many friends we’ve lost along the way

(I know you’re looking down from heaven)

And I know eventually we’ll be together

(Yes we will)

One sweet day

(Patiently to see you in heaven)Sorry I never told you

All I wanted to say

Letter from Heaven

To my dearest family, some things I’d like to say…

but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.

I’m writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.

Here, there’s no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I’m out of sight.

Remember that I’m with you every morning, noon and night.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,

God picked me up and hugged me and He said, “I welcome you.”

It’s good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.

As for your dearest family, they’ll be here later on.

I need you here badly; you’re part of my plan.

There’s so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.

And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.

And when you lie in bed at night, the day’s chores put to flight.

God and I are closest to you…in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years

because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.

But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.

Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.

But if I were to tell you, you wouldn’t understand.

But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o’er.

I’m closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;

but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

It was always my philosophy and I’d like it for you too…

that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who’s in sorrow and pain,

then you can say to God at night…“My day was not in vain.”

And now I am contented…that my life has been worthwhile,

knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,

just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.

When you’re walking down the street, and you’ve got me on your mind;

I’m walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it’s time for you to go… from that body to be free,

remember you’re not going…you’re coming here to me.

When life gets so hard

I wanted to find some words on a card.

That would help to get thru it when life gets so hard.

It seems you can’t bear it - perhaps can’t go on -

When deep in the heart there’s no trace of a song.

Some words that would comfort -

when late in the night the trials return and -

you’re too tired to fight.

Or the tears flow so often it seems you’ll run dry.

And life gets so tough that you just want to die -

Or at least go and hide -

where you’re safe from all pain.

Someplace you can rest 'til you find joy again.

What are the words you so need to hear -

That will help and will heal and remove all the fear -

That builds up inside 'til you think you’ll explode -

What are the words that will lighten the load?

If only I knew the right words to say.

To encourage and Bless you or comfort some way.

I know not the words but this I can do.

I shall offer up Prayers to the Father for you.

Happiness is like a butterfly

the more you chase it

the more it will elude you

but if you turn your attention to other things

it will softly come and sit on your shoulder

Oh Bobby, Thank You for putting thse poems on here, I always used to read them on the old board, but the new ones that you have put on have just had me in tears, which is good, because I still need to cry, but most of the time, the tears won’t come, but they sure have now. Thank You again for sharing these.

love

Sara

Just to let you know that the poems will ALL be transferred as will the who’s who posts once the old board is properly closed. These poems and prose are words of remembrance for many of the people who have written them and we don’t want to loose them.

I’m glad they brought you some healing too Sara
