I’m currently on my second period since my tube removal surgery. I had my right tube removed early January. Throughout the month, I experience no pain at all from the surgery but the first 2 days of both periods so far I have had pains in my right hand side. It’s manageable pain, like a full on/off ache, but very obvious to me where it is in my pelvis. Almost to the exact spot where I would imagine my tube would have been.
Is this normal?

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss and continued discomfort.
Abdominal pain following ectopic pregnancy is very common as your body has been through a great deal over the last few months. The pain may be due to adhesions (scar tissue that binds two parts of the body together) which form and take some time to settle. Your body may be preparing to ovulate and many women experience ovulation pain when they did not before their ectopic pregnancy - including myself. You also may have a heightened perception because of the sad loss that you have had to go through. Sadly there is little research into this common pain, so we do not have an exact answer as to the cause.
If the pain persists, I suggest keeping a pain diary noting when the pain appears, the intensity on a scale of 0-10 and anything that helps the pain eg resting, hot water bottle, paracetamol etc. Visiting your doctors with this information helps them to assess how best to manage your symptoms.

Hey, sorry to hear about your experience. I had two ectopic on my left side last year, the last of which ended with surgery late Oct. I also get pains on the site on my surgery at various moments in my cycle since. I have also noticed that at times my scars feel more tender - no idea why. As long as it doesn’t worsen (or that there isn’t a chance it might be a new early pregnancy), I have assumed it was a mix of scar tissues and hyper awereness. I often resent it because it constantly brings my mind back to those memories, but for me it hasn’t brought any issues beyond that. So I don’t know if it’s normal but you’re not alone. Xo
