On the 7th of August , I had a laproscopic surgery to remove a left ectopic pregnancy, that had just begun to rupture - This was due to my contraceptive pill “Micronor” failing. It’s been over 3 months and I’m still a bit sore, achy etc, sex hurts, orgasms twinge painfully and my sex drive is dead.
When does the pain stop? How long does it take? This is seriously taking hold of my life, I just want to move on, but I’m completely unable to because of this constant pain. It’s not like it’s a lot of pain, I’d give it a 2/3 out of 10 maybe, but it’s just always there in the background. Worrying me, making me feel like something is wrong, painkillers don’t touch it. Doctors told me it could just be scarring etc, but after almost 4 months?
Just some advice, would be appreciated.
Thank you <3
Hi Muffinangel,
I am sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss. It is both a physical and emotional trauma, and I relate to the sense of wanting to just be through it. The healing and recovery does take time, and it varies from person to person as there is no set timeframe.
It can be very normal to feel abdominal pains after treatment for ectopic pregnancy. The pain you are feeling could be due to your body healing or as a result of adhesions or scar tissue which forms as part of the recovery process. It could also be because your menstrual cycle is restarting or because of ovulation pains as many women feel ovulation pains when they did not before. It might also be as a result of heightened awareness after your ordeal.
To assist, you could keep a pain diary too - when you experience the pain and where, its intensity and anything that helps like rest or pain relief, and noting when your period starts. You can take these notes with you to the appointment and the details will help your doctors best manage your symptoms.
It’s incredibly important to look after yourself right now and allow your body time to rest and heal.
With good wishes,
Michele

Hi,
I had my Surgery to remove left tube in January and still everyday I get pains in my stomach. I also get pains on the opposite side which makes me go in to panic mode every time! I have seen my gp and all they said was that it is adhesions but operating to remove can cause more. Some days I feel so ill with it and It’s so frustrating.
