My first methotrexate injection didn’t work, so I had to have another. Second time round my hcg levels seem to be dropping well, and I’m getting weekly blood taken until its down to 0. I’ve been told that because I’ve had 2 injections the waiting time to try again would be 6 months rather than 3, is that correct?
Hi, I had 3 shots of methotrexate in December and was told to wait 3 months. My levels still are not down to zero.

I’m so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
Some doctors (mistakenly) think that because they have administered a second dose of Methotrexate that that they must also double the recovery time for the body. However, even in a second dose of Methotrexate, the dosage is still much lower than for treatment of other conditions and is still metabolised by the body very quickly.
Our medical advice is that, if you have had two injections, you should rely on your blood test results as an indicator of what is happening in your body and wait until your hCG levels have fallen to below 5mIU/mL. You can then restart taking vitamin/folic acid supplements for 12 weeks before you try to conceive.

Hi,
I’ve just had my 2nd injection yesterday as the first one wasnt working. What symptoms have you had? Were they any different to the first jag?
I was told 6 months however wondered about this too - I will be asking again.

Just been reading about you having Methotrexate.
I also had to have this injection 12th May I’m now 5weeks on my bloods are now negative and just had a 5day period.
I have also been told to wait 3months or 2 menstrual cycles.
