Morning All,
The end of 2018 was a hard one. After trying for 5 years with no joy hitting the NHS requirements we were granted the 1 free cycle that the NHS offer. We selected the best place we could close to us and started the process. IVF hold a lot more than you first think but my wife was incredible with the injections regular bloods etc. The Egg collection came & Went all looked well, Transfer day came and the egg was re planted. We had amazing news November a positive test and further positives results. Unfortunately came Early December 8 week scan and nothing could be found!! It was truly horrendous, we were not expecting this and things started to turn with bloods coming back higher and higher. To our horror an Ectopic pregnancy was found during our 3rd scan. This was the day this turned into a Ruptured Ectopic, thankfully they rushed my wife into surgery to stop bleeding but unfortunately this resulted in loosing the baby and the right tube.
Ectopic is a horrible occurrence, something they do not tell you about in details going forward with pregnancy and IVF. The Subsequence pain from this is the news my wife needs to go back in as they found endometriosis and the dr also advised its best to remove the other tube also. WORST possible news but we know IVF is the best way for us. Although due to only having one free cycle on the NHS we now have the dilemma for going aboard. Mainly for costing, we loved out team in Southampton but For £9,500 for one cycle going forward its something we can’t afford. board we are looking around the 3-4k mark and they also implant more than one embryo. Still a great financial burden.
I just wanted to tell the story as it’s truly horrific and without friends family I truly don’t now how we survived Christmas.
If anyone else is in the same boat it would be great to chat & also for anyone that has done IVF aboard.
Thank you all
Chris
