EXPECTANT MANAGEMENT ECTOPIC- SUCCESS STORY TO HELP

Hello,

I just wanted to let other women know my story to help them with answers if they are going through expectant management of an ectopic pregnancy.

I found out I had a 2.3cm mass in my left tube on 28th April. I had brown spotting which was regular from just over 4 weeks pregnant and the Doctor was not concerned and presumed I was having implantation bleeding. I trusted that this was the case but as the days went by I became more bloated with discomfort in my bowels and the spotting continued. The spotting started to look like coffee granules and I would wear panty liners. I contacted the doctors again at nearly 6 weeks and was referred to the early pregnancy unit, where I received the sad news about the ectopic. I was filled with anger, sadness, frustration and dread, I had so many questions and very little answers at the time.

From 6 weeks pregnant on the 28th April my HCG was 420, which they said was very low and I would undergo blood tests over a few days to see if it would naturally come down without intervention.

Blood tests every second day results

420

451

473

By this point I was fretting as it was slowly increasing but nothing drastically changing and my symptons were the same. Then I had the tipping point with my fourth result being 471. It looked like a very long road ahead of waiting for the HCG to come down. They suggested a week for my next blood test.

During that week I did some research and cut down on folic acid, which is in so many of my favourite foods and I drank 2 cups of Green tea a day, which stops folic acid from being absorbed as much.

I had my bloods taken and within the space of a week my HCG had dropped to 19!! Yes, 19!!!

The bleeding subsided 4 days ago and I consider myself lucky at this moment in time to be over this nightmare. A lot of women have to go through medical management or their tube being removed and I was saved from further stress and torment. I am pleased the doctors let me take this route.

I believe Green tea massively helped, along with rest and affirmations for Total Health. Your mind and body are so aligned! I hope this story can help someone, as I know how long those days can be when you’re searching for answers. Sending love x

Hi,

I had my 1st shot in April and my hcg went down during day 4 to day 7.However once I was discharged,it went up a little bit and I was given 2nd shor again in may…

This is week 4 post 2nd mtx and my hcg has been:

600ish to 490 to 500ish and now to 600ish… it felt like a long journey, and im lost now on what I can do to reduce this hcg down… Tomorrow my doctor wanted to see me,and my mind is thinking of all the possibilities :face_with_diagonal_mouth::face_with_diagonal_mouth::face_with_diagonal_mouth::face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Anyone can advise if there is anything I can discuss with my doctor? Is it common to have 3rd shot? Im still recovering from my 2nd shot, cant even imagine having 3rd shot :face_with_diagonal_mouth::face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Dear Manabear,

I am so sorry to hear that your levels are increasing and it is important to discuss the options with your medical team who will have all information about you to hand. I am afraid we are unable to provide personalised medical advice.

I hope you have some answers, and we will be here for you for as long as you need.

Sending much love,

Karen x

Thanks so much for sharing your story, this is so encouraging to hear and I’m glad that things worked out for you.

I’m in a similar position, currently around 5 weeks (I think) and hcg is hovering around 70-90 so we are trying expectant management for the time being. I’m really keen to stick with this if I can (although it is mentally gruelling) and I’m also trying to do everything I can to encourage it, like limiting my folic acid etc

One question - Although your HCG levels dropped off, do you know if the mass has remained in your tube? I was told that this can take a lot longer to resolve than hcg levels so am wondering if this would cause problems?
