Hi! As I have been reading your stories I started wondering if I was mistaken or if there really seams to be a difference in the frequency of ectopic pregnancies between the right and left fallopian tube. I don’t know, maybe it just happened and I read more stories concerning one of the two fallopian tubes. However just in case there is something here worth noticing I suggest we give it a try with a poll. I thank you all!
statistically ectopic pregnancy is slightly more predominant on the right due to the location of the appendix - and the fact that women who do have their appendix removed are more at risk of ectopic as is any woman whose had any kind of abdominal surgery
I however was a lefty and when this question has been asked here in the past and other straw polls done it’s the lefties that won
Mine was in the right tube, but no previous abdominal surgery and no appendix problems… I am one of those for whom there will potentially never be an answer!
i so sorry for forgeting that some of you have had 2 eps! since i cannot change the poll options please continue voting where your 1st was. thank you!
Joanna, You also appear to have forgotten those who have suffered ectopic pregnancies in places other than the fallopian tube. You poll can be amended if you wish. Just contact ept@ectopic.org This poll can only partially answer the question and so will be skewed and of little value other than for fun if any poll around ectopic pregnancy can be called fun that is and so long as everyone understands that it has NO scientific value - it’s fine
thank you for the information on amending my poll.
however i wish to clarify the matter of ep in places other than ft. i am aware that many women have had ep in other places but i was wondering about the specific place because i thought i saw a pattern regarding ep in fallopian tubes. believe me i had no intension of excluding, ofending, lessening or ignoring other cases, it is just that i was wondering if there is a tendency for one ft or the other.
also i know that this is not a scientific research. but the 1 in a 1000000 chance that it might show something that, others with the proper knowledge, might find significant is worth it.

We are not sure what you mean here if you would like us to help we will happily do so

Unfortunately the poll can show us nothing of significance because you have not designed your poll to reflect the user group accurately and you can not tell if any of the data is incorrect (someone answering about their first or second ectopic in the same or other tube for example) and there is no way of spotting the discrepancy.
How interesting that the numbers are so close! There really must be a 50/50 chance. Mine was in my left. although for some reason when anyone asks I say right and have to correct myslef. It’s wierd!!
Mines was in the left - this is a great poll - it probably sounds a bit odd but I tend to feel some kind of affinity with other ‘lefties’! - and I’d got the impression that right was more common but it’s interesting to see the numbers so close - maybe I’ve just got an inferiority complex or something.
My ectopic was in my right tube. No reason found why it happened as I’ve had no previous surgery or infections and both tubes looked normal. My consultant said that women mainly ovulate from the right hand side but don’t know why this is. So I presume more ectopics may happen in right tube as we ovulate more from this side, but I’m just guessing. I’m no expert.
Ok I voted right cos I had 3 eps in my right tube, had surgery on 3rd ep. But just had ep in left tube and now had that removed too . I believe also that the right side is the more dominant
he couldn t either clarify whether the same problem existed in my right one.
when later on they did a scan, they first could not locate the right one, so i was sure they had removed it by accident (cause he kept sayin how important it was to save my leftie, even tho it was very hard to keep it)
-luckily it was just hidden behind the liver. never knew tubes liked to play hide nd seek
