Ectopic Abdominal Pregnancy

I found out I waa pregnant two weeks ado, just 8 days past ovulation. HCG was 259. The day after my bfp, I staryed spotting red blood. Based on bleeding and slow rising HCG levels, my doctor suspected an ectopic pregnancy. Last week’s scan didn’t show anything, so it was assumed that the pregnancy had passed or it was just still too small to see. A week passed and levels continued to slowly rise. I had a more comprehensive scan today and the pregnancy was found, but on the outside of ovary, in my abdomen. The doctor was shocked. It was still measuring small and no heartbeat was detected. I was sent to the hospital and after a long day of lab work, I was given two doses of methotrexate and sent home. I feel physically okay now, but it’s only been a few hours. Emotionally, I feel bewildered and alone. No one seems to have heard of it, not even the nurse who gave me my injection. On line, I can find a million stories about “regular” Ectopic, but none like mine. Everything I read about EAP is from medical journals, but no personal stories. Surely someone else has been through this?

Hi

Sorry to hear this :frowning:

Xmas eve I fount out I was pregnant which I didn’t know due to normal periods ,

The baby was on the outside of my ovary which ruptured caused internally bleeding so I had to have surgery to stop the bleeding and remove baby ,

It’s a rare case to find baby on the ouTside of the ovary

Dear ACPink,

I am so very sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss. This has been so recent and you have been through so much. With the mtx shots, you will continue to need to monitor yourself for any symptoms. Ectopic pregnancy is both an emotional and physical trauma, and it’s very important to look after yourself right now.

I also had an unusual type of ectopic, and found it difficult to connect with information and other women at first. However, over time, I have met other women and we have shared our similar experiences. The Trust provides some information on ovarian ectopics, and as you mention, they are a rare form. https://www.ectopic.org.uk/patients/wha … pregnancy/ (Scroll down on this page for ovarian).

I’m glad that you were able to work with your doctors to ensure that you were treated. While I know there is still more road to travel, it is good that you have found these boards. We are here for you for as long as you need.

With good wishes,

Michele
