Does this sound like Ectopic? Would hcg levels rise this much in 48 hours if it was?

I’m really struggling right now I’m so anxious :disappointed_relieved:

I tested positive a week today very faint and 5 days before my period was due.

The day after I tested positive Friday last week I started to bleed like a period for 3 days, then I carried on testing positive on a pregnancy test so had bloods done Monday this week my HCG was 37 and Progesterone 6.9. Dr said he thought it was a chemical pregnancy.

Had repeat bloods done yesterday (48hrs after the first lot) and my HCG has in fact risen to 138.

I’m now being referred for a scan and more HCG bloods on Tuesday next week.

I’m a mess and don’t know what to think.

I was so sure it was a chemical pregnancy last weekend now I don’t know what’s going on.

My Dr said I could be very early in pregnancy and the bleed was implantation but I didn’t think you could get a positive hcg test until after implantation? I tested positive the day before I bled.

He said it could be that I was pregnant with twins but now there is only one.

Or it could be ectopic.

Can anyone share their knowledge or experience please on what you think may be going on, do my HCG levels indicate a normal rise if I was pregnant? I would be 4 weeks.

And if it was ectopic what stage do they usually rupture? I’m terrified every day is a ticking time bomb and it’s going to rupture before Tuesday.

Hi Purpleflowers14,

I know how worrying this period can be. The waiting in early pregnancy is particularly difficult as we seek some certainty of what will come. You are doing everything correct to get your scan booked in and connect to the early pregnancy services.

Many of us are anxious as we ttc and in future pregnancies. Please know that you are not alone. As difficult as it is, it can be helpful to take things slowly right now and focus on what is at hand, versus what might come. The time will pass, and your scan will be here soon. Hopefully, providing some reassurance.

Please do be mindful of your symptoms during this early pregnancy time. I took some solace in know that the medical support was there for me, no matter what would come. The other thing I just wanted to say is that with ectopic recovery, sometimes it takes even longer than we think it will. If you and your partner need extra time, please take it. These are traumatic events and new pregnancies can trigger old feelings. With this in mind, please remember we are here for you at any time you need.

With good wishes,

Michele
