Hi… I’ve been looking online and seeing mixed answers, I am 5 weeks post surgery to remove my right tube for ectopic pregnancy and have had some bleeding today. I’m pretty sure it must be my period coming back… wondering if it’s safe to go back to using tampons? When I was in the hospital and bleeding during pregnancy I was told not to use tampons and to monitor the bleeding with pads… but now I’m 5 weeks post op Im hoping a tampon should be ok ?
Dear slv,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss. As you have mentioned, this sounds like it is your first period after your initial bleed following treatment. It is the first bleed with treatment that we recommend you don’t wear tampons to be able to monitor the flow and reduce chance of infection.
Now you are able to wear tampons. If your bleeding is heavy though, I would recommend going back to pads to monitor the flow.
Sending much love,
