After some advise or reassurance… I’m 6 days post surgery when I had my left tube removed. I’m very bloated and still in a fair bit of pain mainly in my lower abdomen and back passage… is this normal? I’m finding it really painful to sit, pass wind (or feel like I really need to but can’t) and when trying to go to the toilet. Has anyone experienced this during their recovery or should I be worried?
Dear TTC8Years,
I am very sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss. It can be a very confusing time and can leave us with worries. Your surgery was very recent, and I will do my best to help.
It can be very normal to feel pains after surgery for ectopic pregnancy. The pain you are feeling could be due to your body healing or as a result of adhesions or scar tissue which forms as part of the recovery process. It might also be as a result of heightened awareness after your ordeal. To assist, you could keep a pain diary too - when you experience the pain and where, its intensity and anything that helps like rest or pain relief, and noting when your period starts.
However, because you are having strong pain you can also speak to your doctors sooner, and taking your notes with you a GP appointment. The details will help your doctors best manage your symptoms. It is always better to get checked out to be on the safe side.
It’s incredibly important to look after yourself right now and allow your body time to rest and heal.
With good wishes,
Michele
