Am I too old?

I had surgery for removal of my right tube and my ectopic pregnancy on October 3,2024. I honestly haven’t been necessarily trying however we are preventing any possibility of pregnancy. I’m just wondering if anyone my age (I’ll be 40 in July) has ever gotten pregnant again after having their tube removed? I worry because I was also told a long time ago I had PCOS but I did manage to have two healthy pregnancies one 16yrs ago and 4 yrs ago. My doctor told me after he performed the surgery all I needed was one healthy tube which he said I have. I just wonder if my eggs are either very limited or no good. It’s been almost 4 months now. Thank in advance

Dear momof2,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss.
While generally it is possible to conceive after an ectopic pregnancy, the amount of time it takes varies from couple to couple. Factors include age, general health, reproductive health and how often you have sex, among other things. It may be comforting to know that 65% of women are successfully pregnant within 18 months of experiencing an ectopic pregnancy and some studies suggest this rises to around 85% after two years.
We do however advise women and people over the age of 35 to seek medical if they have not successfully conceived after 6 months of trying.
I hope this helps,
Sending much love,
Karen x
