3 day period 5 weeks after rignt tube removed & sore breasts

I had an ectopic pregnancy at 8 weeks removed on 4th december 2019 after it ruptured my right fallopian tube. Since surgery I have had my period for 3 days last week. It came on time going by my periods before the ectopic pregnancy. My periods used to last 6-7 days. This period was 3 days but had no signs of it arriving. No sore breasts, no sore heads and no eating crap before it, nothing. My periods ended 3 days ago and now I’ve got sore breasts. Has anyone else experienced this? I don’t know what it is or if it’s my hormones all over the place.

Dear Kerin1994,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,

Your periods can take a while to re-establish - they can re-start anything between two and ten weeks after surgery and most women find that their period arrives sometime around week six or seven after surgery.

The first period may be more painful or less so than usual, heavier or lighter, last for longer or shorter than usual – there really is no set pattern. Mine took a few months to settle into a pattern that was more normal for me.

Sending much love,

Karen x
